Don't Leave Me This Way fut initialement publiée en 1975 par Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes featuring Teddy Pendergrass. La chanson a ensuite été reprise par la chanteuse américaine Thelma Houston en 1976 et par le duo britannique The Communards en 1986, les deux versions rencontrant un succès commercial.
